Radha Raman Temple, Vrindavan
One of Vrindavan’s seven Thakur temples, Shri Radha Raman Temple holds a deity unlike any other — a self-manifested form of Krishna that emerged from a shaligram shila belonging to the saint Gopal Bhatt Goswami in 1542. Here, a fire kindled five centuries ago still burns to this day.
About
The self-manifested
deity of Radha Raman
Radha Raman Temple is one of the holiest in Vrindavan. Its deity is svayambhu — self-manifested — appearing from Gopal Bhatt Goswami’s shaligram. Uniquely, there is no separate idol of Radha; a crown placed beside Krishna represents her presence, which is why he is called Radha Raman, “the beloved of Radha”.
The temple kitchen has kept a sacred fire continuously lit since 1542 — all prasad at Radha Raman Temple Vrindavan is still cooked on this eternal flame. The deity’s intricate daily shringar and the temple’s devotional music are deeply moving.
