Seva Kunj & Keli Kunj, Vrindavan
Seva Kunj and the adjacent Keli Kunj are among Vrindavan’s most sacred groves — the very gardens where Radha, Krishna and the gopis are believed to perform the eternal raasleela. Like Nidhivan, Seva Kunj empties at dusk so the divine play may unfold undisturbed.
About
The raasleela
groves of Vrindavan
Seva Kunj is a peaceful walled grove in central Vrindavan where, devotees believe, Krishna once braided Radha’s hair — the spot is marked to this day. Each evening, after aarti, Seva Kunj is locked and emptied of all people, birds and animals, for the nightly raasleela.
Within Seva Kunj lies the Lalita Kund, a sacred pond said to have been created by Krishna playing his flute to quench Lalita Sakhi’s thirst. Keli Kunj, close by, is another leela grove associated with the playful pastimes (keli) of the divine couple.
